FAQs
Do I need to make an appointment to bring my computer in for repair?
Appointments are not required but, as we do provide onsite support as well as collection and return services, we do recommend calling first. We wouldn’t want you to have a wasted trip if we’re out on call when you arrive.
Can you repair my computer at my home or office?
We offer a range of services which can be carried out at your home or office. With regards to computer repairs it depends on the nature of the repair, and how long it’s likley to take. Onsite support is charged at an hourly rate, wheras workshop repairs are charged at a fixed price, so in some cases we may recommend that the repair be carried out at our workshop if it’s likley to be cheaper for you.
We offer a free collection and return service for local customers and aim to have your computer back to you within 24 hours (subject to parts availability). If you rely on your computer for keeping in contact with friends, family, or other essential services, we may be able to offer you a free loan laptop whilst yours is being repaired.
What areas do you cover?
We provide a free collection & return service, and home visits to customers in our local service area which is broadly defined as locations which can be reached by car within 20 minutes of Pontllanfraith, Blackwood.
Our ‘Local Service Area’ includes but is not limited to; Blackwood, Newbridge, Gelligaer, Bargoed, New Tredegar, Abertillery, Treharis, Abercynon, Ystrad Mynach, Ynys-ddu, Crosskeys, Risca, Pontymister, Caerphilly.

Do you repair Apple computers?
We mainly specialise in Windows computers, however we do offer a limited repair service for Apple laptops and desktops. Fill in our Quote Request form, or give us a call to discuss your needs and we’ll be able to advise if we’re able to assist.
Do you repair mobile phones and tablets?
We don’t carry out Mobile Phone or Tablet repairs at our Pontllanfraith workshop, but we do work with other local repair specialists allowing us to offer a comprehensive and convenient experience.
How long will my computer repair take?
Whilst it’s often possible for some repairs to be completed the same day, this depends on the nature of the problem, how busy we are, and whether we need to source replacement parts. Generally we aim to turn around standard repairs within 24 hours, but we always ask customers to allow 2-3 days to be on the safe side. Some repairs can take longer if replacement parts are not readily available.
Can I wait while you repair my computer?
We don’t offer a while you wait service, mainly because of the time it takes to diagnose the issue, carry out the necessary repair, and test that the repair has been successful. We also carry out a free basic health check on all computers which come in for repair.
Do you charge a diagnostic fee?
We always aim to provide a realistic range of costs beforehand, based on the details provided during the initial discussions. This way you will have a best and worst case price and can decide whether or not to proceed. Initial diagnostics can take several hours, so we do charge a small diagnostic fee of £29 + VAT which is offset against the final invoice should you proceed with the repair.
Once the diagnostic has been completed, you will be notified if the final price is likely to be higher than the original estimate. If you decline the quotation, you pay nothing.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash and all major credit cards.
Will I be charged anything if you can’t repair my computer?
At Syntech Computers, we are committed to providing reliable and trustworthy computer repair services. Under our 'No Fix, No Fee' policy, you will not be charged for any repair services if we are unable to fix your computer. This policy applies to all repairs except in cases of customer-caused damage or issues explicitly excluded in our terms and conditions. If we diagnose your computer and find it unrepairable, you will not be charged any fees, ensuring you have peace of mind and confidence in our services..
If we can’t fix your PC, or we believe it’s beyond economical repair, we don’t charge you a penny, not even a diagnostic fee.
Will I need to give you my password or PIN?
This depends on the nature of the repair or service. If the problem is related to the operating system, your user profile or some other software issue, then yes, we will most likely need your password or PIN so we can carry out the repair and properly test the device.
If it’s a hardware problem, or a hardware upgrade, you could create a temporary account for us to use during repair, which you can then delete later.
Please note that we do not store customer’s passwords after the repair is complete.
